Year 2005: MDK K-Line® 15" Heavyweight 6-packs
The Western Depot had K-Line® make some sets of their 15" heavyweight cars especially for us. The Capitol Limited was B&O’s flagship passenger train with an emphasis on comfort and service.

Year 2004: MDK K-Line® Western Pacific items
The Western Depot had K-Line® produce a variety of limited run items decorated for the Western Pacific: a Plymouth switcher, a 6-pack of ore cars, two 4-packs of scale size freight cars and two 4-packs of reefers.
The Plymouth switcher is an extremely popular model from K-Line® and we expect our run of WP units to sell out quickly since only 350 units were made. The ore cars are the perfect size to match the Plymouth and are a limited run of only 300 sets.
The Western Pacific scale size freight car 4-packs each contain a Tidewater Southern boxcar, a Sacramento Northern boxcar (Sacramento Northern and Tidewater Southern were both owned by the Western Pacific), a Western Pacific / Pacific Fruit Express wood-sided reefer, and a Western Pacific bay window caboose. Each 4-pack has totally different road numbers on all of the cars. Only 150 of each 4-pack were made.
In addition to the reefers included in our freight car 4-packs we are also had two 4-packs of the scale size Western Pacific / Pacific Fruit Express wood-sided reefers made. Every reefer will have a different road number making a total of ten road numbers available if you buy both reefer packs and both freight car packs. Only 100 of each reefer 4-pack were made.
For those running O scale two-rail track we had K-Line produce a very limited run of the scale size WP cars with 2-rail trucks and couplers already installed. Both WP PFE reefer sets will be available in 2-rail as will the two WP cabooses. Only 25 sets each of the 2-rail reefers were made and only 48 each of the 2-rail cabooses.
The Western Pacific ore car set is sold out. The 3-rail reefer packs are nearly gone with only one left. The other items are still available.
Year 2004: MDK K-Line® WestSide Lumber Company items
The Western Depot had K-Line® produce a variety of limited run items decorated for the WestSide Lumber Company. The WestSide Lumber Company is perhaps one of the best known and most popular logging operations that existed. The introduction of K-Line’s new class B two-truck Shay led us to request a special run of items decorated for this popular railroad.
The Shay is a brand new item from K-Line® and pre-production samples convinced us that this will be another excellent running locomotive. K-Line® even designed the locomotive so that the model is driven by the geared shaft on the side of the locomotive, just like the prototype was! Only 200 of these Shays were made in 3-rail and we are even had a VERY limited number (only 10) made in 2-rail. The 3-rail version includes Lionel RailSounds, TMCC, cruise control and electrocouplers. The 2-rail version is DC only without a DCC socket.
What good would a logging railroad be without log cars to haul the load? With that in mind we had K-Line® produce two sets of log cars to go with our WSLC Shay. Each set has four different road numbers for a total of eight road numbers in all. Only 200 of the A set were made and only 100 of the B set.
Logging operations were known for having many of the camp buildings on wheels so they could easily be transported from one location to another. With that in mind we are offering two different WestSide camp cars to go with the rest of the equipment we are had made, an “Office” and a “Company Store”. Only 100 of each camp car were made.

This brings the total road numbers we had made to thirteen. Only 100 of the 4-packs were made and they are completely sold out. (photo below)

Year 2000: MDK K-Line® Scale Size Cabooses
designed and produced exclusively for The Western Depot.
The Western Depot contracted with K-Line® for a special limited run of wide vision and bay window style cabooses. The new K-Line® cabooses are simply the best in the industry and feature furnished interiors, overhead StreamLighting®, operating smoke unit with on-off switch, stamped metal chassis, metal ladders, brake wheels and handrails. The chassis underside is detailed and a brass radio antenna, metal safety chains, opening doors and stainless steel walkways and platforms make this the most highly detailed caboose model on the market today!
These models have been meticulously researched to provide our customers with a great looking model that is faithful to the prototype. Special attention to details is reflected in the painted steps and end railings which is not done on all normal production offerings.
The models come in four different railroad markings, two variations of the Union Pacific with correct safety slogans (production drawings and photo below),
three numbers of the Southern Pacific with correctly painted orange ends and bay window sides (photo below, only numbers differ on SP cabooses),
and two numbers each of Santa Fe and Burlington Northern (photos below).
Operated from the mid 1950’s through the 1980’s, this is the perfect caboose to bring up the markers on your scale size GP38, Cab Forward, UP Gas Turbine, Big Boy, Challenger, F3, SD40-2, SW8/9, GP9 or even the SD90MAC!
