TTPX 3-Pack With Cable Load & With Jewel Cases
Built for TTX, these NSH72-class bulkhead flatcars with Barber Roller Bearing trucks were used to carry structural steel and pipes, as well as logs and other long commodities. The reinforced bulkheads provide load protection as well as prevent shifting during transit. TTX was established in 1955 as “Trailer Train,” and as their business evolved simply became “TTX” in a 1991 rebranding effort.
Cable reels, a common commodity, come in all sizes and weights and present railroads with an interesting lading problem. Many of the solutions involved heavy wood timbers to brace loads that were prone to shifting and added extra weight and complexity to load outs. Nowadays, purpose-built metal frame work is employed to streamline the loading operation and cut down on needless weight.
