Chesapeake & Ohio 4-Car Runner Pack
- These 40’ boxcars were built in 1947 for the CB&Q. To help fill a boxcar shortage in the late 1960s on the Chesapeake & Ohio, these cars were leased to the C&O and repainted into a boxcar red. Chessie System was formed through the 1972 mergers of Chesapeake & Ohio, Baltimore & Ohio, and Western Maryland. It remained one of the largest East coast railroads until 1986 when Seaboard System merged with Chessie to form today’s rail giant, CSX Transportation.
