Illinois Central Weathered 50' Standard Box Car 10' Single Door Without Roofwalk Short Ladders #27639
- Built in the 1950s for Illinois Central, this 50’ boxcar belonged to a 500-car series of general purpose cars. In the 1970s, one door was replaced with interior planks and it was placed into onion and other vegetable service. Illinois Central Gulf was a Class 1 railroad from 1972-1988 and arose from the merger of Illinois Central and Gulf, Mobile and Ohio.
