Conrail 60' Box Car Excess Height Double Plug Doors Rivet Side #220998
- This 60’ double-plug-door boxcar was rebuilt by Conrail in the mid-1990s and repainted into the Conrail Quality paint scheme. With a capacity of 263,000 pounds and 7100 cubic feet, it had plenty of space for appliances and other bulky cargoes. New York Central merged with its rival, the Pennsylvania Railroad, in 1968 to form Penn Central, which went bankrupt two years later and was merged into Conrail in 1976.
